Adelie Penguin tracks in the snow. A glacier melting at Cape Bird
The day after a 3 day storm. This adult is buried in the snow up to it's head. The chicks are under the snow too. The adult on these chicks pulled himself out, but the hole is too high for the chicks to crawl out. Both parents are near by and will feed the chicks.
This parent was buried with the chicks during the storm and the snow is too high for them to get out. The chicks is getting it's meal anyway. The parent was able to pull itselt out of this snow cave, but the chicks are still there. The parent is standing guard and will feed them.
During the storm, the adults kept breathing holes open in the snow. When it was over they pulled themselves out of their snow caves one by one. Within a few hours all the chicks were out as well.
