Twins. Both eggs have hatched. This chick is still working its way out of the shell.
An Adelie Penguin chick pipping. The chick is already calling out to its parent from inside the shell, you can see its small beak breaking the shell. This chick is still working it's way out of the shell. It will be a few more minutes before it emerges. The parent watches, but does not help.

A chicks view of meal time. This is krill. This chick was too small to take all the food the parent provided. Some of it has spilled on the nest. As the chick gets older it will be the other way around. The chick will not be able to get enough.
